Interesting article on the challenges of preserving all the fancy new digital formats - take the survey here:

Read more in this article (http://www.moviemakerdigital.com/default.aspx?iid=20334&startpage=page0000024)by Bob Fisher in Moviemaker Magazine; here's a summary:

[It's an article] which briefly sums up a film vs. digital archiving study that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences conducted last year. Michael Ciepely poetically summarized the results in one line of his New york Times report, “…we could be watching Wallace Beery long after more contemporary images are gone.”

The Academy is currently conducting part two of that survey, this time focussing on independent filmmakers. In conjuction with that study, Moviemaker Magazine has posted a questionaire on its website that is designed to determine both awareness of the issue and practices. I realize that your members primarily have and are producing content for television, however the issues are the same, and their viewpoints are equally important

Sadly, we all are, in our own ways, data rot.
